Grow Your Yields

PANNAR's new ultra early white and yellow hybrids are a breakthrough with a substantial yield increase on current bestselling hybrids. This new range produces excellent yields under irrigation and in high potential dryland production areas. The package offers reliable yields from season to season, hedging your risk and offering the opportunity to optimize production and profitability.

Ultra Early Yellow Maize
Three new ultra early genetic platforms have been added to the yellow package. Under irrigation these ultra early yellow hybrids have produced exceptional yields the past season.

PAN 3A-124, PAN 3R-524R and PAN 3R-724BR are a good choice to grow under irrigation in all production areas and under dryland in the high potential production regions of the eastern Highveld and KwaZulu-Natal. This package is the top performer in PANNAR's evaluation trials under irrigation. PAN 3A-124 is intended to replace PAN 6126. The plant type of these hybrids lends itself to high plant populations from 95 000 to 100 000 plants per hectare under irrigation and 45 000 to 60 000 plants per hectare for dryland production. The plants have upright leaves and produce a fixed ear that is advantageous under high potential conditions that require high plant populations. These hybrids dry down the quickest in the PANNAR ultra early package.

PAN 3R-586R and PAN 3R-786BR are very suitable to grow under high input irrigation. They are almost as quick as the previous package and show good tolerance against leaf diseases, especially Phaeosphaeria and Grey Leaf Spot. They tolerate heat stress well.

Under dryland these two ultra early hybrids perform well in areas with high yield potential, such as the eastern production regions of the eastern Highveld, and especially in KwaZulu-Natal. It should be planted at least 20% to 30% higher plant populations than the medium group of hybrids.

PAN 3R-500R and PAN 3R-700BR are well adapted for high input irrigation in all production areas, at plant populations of 80 000 to 100 000 plants per hectare. They are intended to supplement and replace PAN 3Q-740BR and PAN 3P-502R. In the eastern production areas, they perform well under dryland and should be planted at 20% to 30% higher plant populations than normally planted in these areas.

Ultra Early White Maize

On the white maize side, PAN 3A-173 is a new addition to the ultra early package. It has an upright leaf growth habit, doesn’t tiller, is very prolific and has good standability. The hybrid produces a high ratio of grain to stover. PAN 3A-173 is well adapted to high plant populations with good general disease tolerance and good grain quality. Under irrigation it fits in well in a double cropping system and is recommended at 80 000 to 100 000 plants per hectare. On dryland in the eastern high potential regions, including KwaZulu-Natal, it can be planted at least 30% higher plant population than the typical medium growers. Depending on the yield potential, 45 000 to 60 000 plants per hectare are recommended.
