Pannar's ultra early maize package delivers top performance under irrigation when best management practices are applied. The ultra early white hybrid, PAN 3R-573R, is an ideal choice under irrigation for white maize grain production. This planting of PAN 3R-573R was planted by DM Allem in the Ventersdorp area under irrigation at 90,000 plants per hectare. According to Pieter Geldenhuys, Pannar's representative in the area, the Allem’s are also planning to plant the new PowerCore™ version, PAN 3P-973PW. Pannar's hybrids with the PowerCore™ technology provide effective protection against above-ground lepidopteran pests and glyphosate herbicides.
The PAN 3R-573R ultra early white hybrid platform, which also includes PAN 3A-173, has a typical ultra early plant type with an upright leaf growth habit and good standability. They are well adapted to high plant populations and have good general disease tolerance and grain quality. These hybrids tend to be prolific and produce a high ratio of grain to stover. This platform is recommended under irrigation, or for the high-potential eastern dryland production areas.
Successful crop production under irrigation requires good management and crop production should ideally take place without any stress from emergence to physiological maturity. As input costs are high, it is important to avoid management errors at all costs. For the best results, be involved yourself and put a premium on the fine detail for first class results!
