In this video, Francois Badenhorst from Jubli Boerdery in Swellendam is busy harvesting PAN 3R-724BR, which looks very promising. The PAN 3R-724BR was grown under irrigation. This video follows on from the photos of Ian Badenhorst jnr. and his uncle Francois Badenhorst that we posted a few weeks ago.
Jannie de Bruyn, Pannar's representative in Swellendam says: “Frans harvested an excellent average yield of 19.1 t/ha despite difficult conditions. It is only a little less than his average of 20.3 t/ha of last year”.
The PAN 3R-724BR platform is the quickest in Pannar’s ultra early range and produces an attractive grain type that dries down rapidly. The platform includes PAN 3A-124, PAN 3R-524R and PAN 3R-224YHR. PAN 3R-724BR maintains an excellent high yield potential and stability over seasons and is a market leader under high-input irrigation systems.
PAN 3R-724BR has the typical upright leaf growth habit of the ultra early hybrids that can be planted at high plant populations, maintaining excellent standability. It features a semi-fixed ear which is advantageous under high potential conditions that require high plant populations. Where leaf diseases usually occur, the YieldBoost™ fungicide spray programme is recommended to protect the yield potential. The platform also performs well under high potential dryland production conditions.
