PAN 5R-582R Produces Good Yield in the Eastern Cape

Crop yields are essential to every farmer as it impacts profitability. Siya Mphaliso has improved his crop yields dramatically by planting yellow maize hybrids PAN 5R-582 and PAN 6R-710BR this season, reports Phelisa Ndayi, Pannar’s representative in the Eastern Cape.

Siya, who farms and is an Agric official from Mqanduli in the Eastern Cape, started by planting PAN 12 and PAN 14 the previous season, of which he harvested on average 4 t/ha. This season he planted PAN 5R-582R and PAN 6R-710BR at 35 000 to 40 000 plants per hectare and harvested an excellent yield of 10.2 and 6.5 tons per hectare of the two hybrids, respectively.
