PAN 5R-582R yellow hybrid is the cornerstone of this family farming operation

Here is Hanns Viviers and his son Elhandru from Syferfontein Farming in the Ventersdorp district, in front of their beautiful planting of the yellow hybrid PAN 5R-582R. It was planted at 38,000 plants per hectare and is used for the main planting. On Syferfontein, PAN 5P-902PW, a PowerCore™ hybrid and PAN 4R-838BR are also planted as part of their yellow package. Pieter Geldenhuys, their representative says: "They also plant a complete package of soybeans, sunflower, dry beans as well as wheat".

The PAN 5A-182 platform is a particularly reliable package that maintains good performance and stability at all yield potential levels. These hybrids have excellent general disease tolerance and are widely adapted to all the production regions and are proven yield leaders in the eastern Highveld. This platform produces excellent quality deep orange, flinty grain with a good hectolitre mass and is very popular with merchants.

PAN 5P-902PW is a medium early hybrid with PowerCore™ technology that provides broad-spectrum protection against above-ground lepidopteran pests, stacked with glyphosate herbicide-tolerant technology for excellent insect and weed control. This hybrid carries its ear low and has good standability. It produces excellent grain quality with a good bushel weight.

PAN 4R-838BR is widely adapted and performs well under a wide range of plant populations and yield potential levels. The strong germination and seedling vigour give this hybrid an advantage early in the season. In environments where Brown Rust occurs, a preventative fungicide spray is recommended for this otherwise well-balanced hybrid.
