PAN 5R-891BR is Pannar's most popular white maize hybrid in the western production region. This is Bertie Pienaar's PAN 5R-891BR near Bloemfontein. PAN 5R-891BR is very prolific, has a strong plant and is well adapted to the lower plant populations that are planted in the western production regions. Because it is so strongly prolific, it compensates well under good production conditions by producing a good second ear.

PAN 5R-891BR in a medium-early white hybrid. The platform includes PAN 5R-591R, PAN 5B-491B and PAN 5P-991PW. They are all very strongly prolific and the seedlings have good vigour with the advantage of quickly establishing a good plant stand. The platform is widely adapted and maintains very good stable performance at different yield potential levels. The platform delivers very good performance on high-potential soils in the western production areas with a clay content of <10% in the topsoil.

PAN 5B-491B was the top performer in the ARC trials on the water table soils for the 2020/21 season. PAN 5B-491B and PAN 5R-891BR have the additional benefit of second generation stalk borer protection.
