Soybean cultivar selection is one of the most important production decisions

This is Hentie le Roux from Grootrus Boerdery's great planting of PAN 1644R soybeans. Hentie planted it at approximately 290,000 plants per hectare in 1.016 m rows. In the photos, he and Hannelie Tait, Pannar's representative for Hoopstad, are admiring the beautiful crop of PAN 1644R soybeans.

Choosing the right soybean cultivars to plant is one of the most important decisions a farmer has to make. Pannar has access to the best commercial soybean cultivars and farmers have the peace of mind that they can choose cultivars from a versatile soybean package that delivers excellent results at different yield potential levels, production areas and over different seasons.

Over the long term, it was established that soybean cultivars in the growth classes MG 5 to 7 were the best adapted to the temperate production areas. The western production area (Northwest and Western Free State) is also part of the temperate production area, although it usually receives sufficient rain later in the season to be able to plant. A package made up of the following cultivars should give you the best chance for success: PAN 1644R (MG 6.7), PAN 1521R (MG 5.7), PAN 1555R (MG 5.7), PAN 1586R (MG 5.9) and PAN 1688R (MG 5.9).

Do talk to your Pannar sales representatives about a cultivar package that should offer you the most profitable combination, or read more about Pannar's cultivars at www.pannar.com.
