The Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI) and the University of Pretoria hosted the 52nd Congress of the Southern African Society of Plant Pathology (SASPP) at the Future Africa centre in Pretoria from 1 to 3 August. Professor Bernard Slippers, the Director of FABI, who has also recently been appointed as the new President of SASPP, welcomed approximately 250 students and delegates, including national and international guests.
The Congress closed off with a gala dinner, sponsored by Corteva Agriscience™, where deserving participants and students received various awards. Amongst the accolades presented were the Pannar Seed shield for Best Speaker, boasting the names of many renowned plant pathologists, which was awarded to Lihan Esterhuizen. The Pannar Seed award for Best Poster Presentation was received by Angel Maduke.
Pannar is immensely proud to be continuing our long-standing sponsorship of Southern African Society of Plant Pathology and recognise these talented young pathologists for their outstanding presentations.
